If I could build a ladder, as tall as man could see
Up there upon the Moon is where I would want to be.
I'd climb and climb so high, it may take me all the day
And on the Moon, from everyone, I would be far away.
I'd dance upon the surface and twirl and leap and bound
If you'd wonder where I was, on the Moon's where I'd be found.
I'd reach up into the night sky, reach up and catch a star
'Cause when you're on the Moon the stars just aren't that far.
I may not want to leave there, forever I may stay
And on the Moon I'd live my life until my final day.
But I do not have a ladder, not one so tall I've found
So I'll just have to see the Moon from down here on the ground.
Up there upon the Moon is where I would want to be.
