Songs to write to....
Sometimes I like peace and quiet when I write. It helps when I am trying to sort out thoughts and ideas and allows me to focus. Some days I don't need to focus, I just type away. On those days I like a distraction from the peace and quiet. On those days I listen to music. This page consists of a list of music that I listened to while composing and completing my stories. I hope you find some of your own favourites or even better - something new in this list that you can also enjoy.
Album - States by The Paper Kites.
The Paper Kites are an indie rock/folk-sy five piece from Melbourne and have been around since 2010. States is one of my favourite albums by the band. I listen to it quite a bit.
Tracks to look out for are Malleable Beings, St Clarity (you will get me every time with a banjo), Gates and A Lesson from Mr Gray.

Band - Birds of Tokyo.
The Birds are another five piece from Australia, this time on the other side of the country. The boys from Perth have been around since 2008. There are many songs that I love from this band, but there are a few songs that most definitely get replayed more than others in my playlist.
They are: Plans, Siren, Lanterns, Wild at Heart and When the Night Falls Quiet.

Musicians - 2 Cellos.
These two Croatian boys can play anything and I think I would listen to it. Some of my faves are:
Supermassive Black Hole, Bang Bang, Benedictus, Hurt (probably my most favourite), Thunderstruck and I Will Wait.

Band - The Whitlams.
There are many songs by this Sydney band, coming from so many albums and I usually listen to them when I feel like lightening my mood.
With songs such as Chunky Air Guitar, Jesus Has Got an Erection and I make Hamburgers that is usually achieved. Then there is everybody's favourite ballad, No Aphrodisiac, which for reasons known to only a few makes me want to politely tell people to fuck off.

Song - 99 Problems by Hugo.
As I understand Jay Z originally sang this song, but I have never heard his version. Hugo's rendition is definitely one I listen to on a regular basis (see previous comments on banjo's) since I discovered it after watching Fright Night.

Songs to do with Cigarettes and Chocolate.
Two songs I absolutely adore and are on the playlist I listen to when writing are Cigarettes & Chocolate Milk by Rufus Wainwright and Chocolates & Cigarettes by Angus & Julia Stone. Neither song has anything in common apart from the title and the fact that they really are quite fantastic.

Duo - Angus & Julia Stone.
Another indie pop/folk-sy band from Australia, this Brother/Sister duo are one of my all time favourites that I listen to wherever and whenever and that includes when I am writing.
Down the Way is probably the most played album in my playlist with a few of my favourite tracks being The Devils Tears, Hush, Draw Your Swords, And The Boys and Yellow Brick Road. Some of their other songs from other albums that are worth checking out are Just A Boy, All Of me, Get Home, My Malakai, All This Love, Wherever You Are, Bella and Take You Away.
